What Happens If Jupiter Drifts Away From its Orbit? ???
What Happens if Jupiter Drifts Away From its Orbit around the Sun?
Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar system. It is bigger than all the planets of our solar system combined. It though being away far the earth helps earth in many ways.
How Big is Jupiter?
How it impacts us?
What if Jupiter Just drifts away from its Orbit around the Sun?
Jupiter born some 4.6 billion years ago. It is a big or to be precise a massive planet in our solar system. It is 318 times massive than our very earth. Jupiter is usually dubbed as failed star by astronomers. That is because if jupiter could gain a lil more of mass it would be an star by now. It has all the elements as our very sun but it lacks one important feature, that is the fusion reaction, Jupiter just fails here as it doesn't have a fusion reaction on its core. So, jupiter can not qualify to be part of elite star club. Hence, it just stays a planet.
Jupiter doesn't directly impact our earth but it can not denied that it doest have many indirect impacts. Jupiter's gravity protect earth from comets. If you remove jupiter in your brooding from horizons near to earth surely comets would hit earth and would be damaging a lot on it.
What Would Happen if the Jupiter Drifts away From its Orbit? ?
What would then Happen to Earth?
You must be knowing that there is a torus-shaped region in our universe right in our solar system, that is usually called asteroid belt. This Asteroid belt holds up to millions of asteroids. These Asteroids are also called as sometimes minor planets. That belt lies between Mars & Jupiter. Jupiter protects Earth from many things which are harmful to it. Now What if it Drifts aways?
Well, in that case, comets and asteroids in the torus-shaped belt would be free to strike earth and there would be no gravity of jupiter left to hold them back. That is likely if jupiter drifts away from orbits of our Sun. The Earth would be exposed to a lot more dangers. So appreciate Jupiter and Stay in touch with What Happens, if you love Science reads.
